Common questions

Is Beacon therapy or medical advice?

No. Beacon is a wellbeing and reflection tool. It isn’t therapy, it isn’t a medical service, and it doesn’t replace your GP, a counsellor or a crisis service.

Is Beacon free?

Yes. Beacon is free to use and has no subscription.

Am I talking to a real person?

Your chat companion is an AI. If you’d like to talk to someone real, you can ask from the chat screen, and our team can join the conversation. If a conversation sounds like you might be in crisis, Beacon will show you crisis lines straight away.

How is my information handled?

Our privacy policy explains what we collect, who processes your chats, where data is stored and how long we keep it — see sections 4 to 7.

How do I export or delete my data?

In the app, open Settings and choose Export my data or Delete my account. You can also ask by email — see how to delete your account.

I’m under 18. Can I use Beacon?

Beacon is for adults aged 18 and over. If you’re under 25, Youthline is there for you on 0800 376 633, and you can call or text 1737 at any age.
